There are a lot of women who speak online about the patriarchy, about opression, about capitalism.
And it kills me inside that I can see where they are coming from, but there seems to be no simple way to communicate the truths hidden in the madness to people on the right wing. I shall do my best here.
A lot of what left-wing are referring to, when they speak of “social justice” issues, is really just a distorted way of perceiving what Catholics know as “vice.”
Hyper capitalism? Greed, envy
Sexualization of women? Lust
Anti intellectualism? Sloth
Not “taking action against systematic injustice”? Sloth
White supremacy? Pride
Violence against minorities? Pride, Wrath
I could go on and on with examples of real problems that leftists identify with their strange buzzwords and catchphrases. The left wing vernacular is so distinct that people who are on the right bristle at hearing any word associated with it, and hiss “woke!” regardless of what merit the concepts may hold.
I acknowledge that there is hidden merit, and I will elaborate, but first I must acknowledge it is poisoned. There is a critical and pivitol element to the “woke” discourse – Marxism.
I’m not screeching “ahhh the world is full of evil gay commies” into a void here.
What I mean to point out, is that to anyone on the left, everything has to be a power struggle, everything has to be framed as “oppressor vs. the oppressed.”
To them, anyone with any advantage ever, is “privileged” and must be torn down.
Similarly, anyone in any position of authority ever, is an oppressor, and must be attacked.
This mindset has manifestly resulted in chaos wherever it has appeared. (Crabs in bucket – elaborate later)
This mindset is even creeping into the Right now – it’s everywhere. ( elaborate)
In the marxist worldview, those who are Oppressed can do no wrong, for they were “suffering systematic injustice.”
Further, those who were Opressors must bow down and surrender all of their goods to anyone at a lesser advantage.
There are so many words to encapsulate different applications of this bleak logic. Fatphobia. Transphobia. Homophobia. Ableism. Sexism. Pretty privilege. Etc etc.
I feel very torn seeing their arguments — they very often seem to be pointing out real world examples of people displaying an utter lack of the virtue of charity. At the same time, they choose to spiral into self obsession and voluntary helplessness, pouring all of their energy into tallying “who made them do it.”
It is very apparent that we no longer speak of virtue, in this society.
This is imminently apparent in how the “anti woke” pushback has multitudes cheering for the return of scantily clad women in advertising, and hordes of men talking about how to become rich as kings and “get laid.”
Gosh, I get that it’s human nature to be attracted to such things, but abandoning oneself to it has made us like animals, but with an even more acute frantic bitterness, because we were never made for that.
This whole mess STARTED with a descent into promiscuity. A return to tradition must be a return to the pursuit of Virtue.
Marxist Fever
The Right vs the Left war is essentially a “Might makes right” versus a “Weak makes right” dichotomy. I see it everywhere I go both on and off the internet. It drives me crazy, sometimes.
I will focus on the “weak makes right” dynamic here.
The underdog story is a classic. I won’t deny its timeless charm.
Marxism taps into that classic tale and twists it.
